As every organisation adapts to the changes to their business due to the COVID 19 Pandemic, it has never been more relevant to review and improve our business processes to make them more efficient and effective. In some instances we are seeing that processes are being challenged through new ways of working, in others, they are changing due to significant impacts to business structure and declines in revenue.
Whatever the reason, improving a process requires an understanding of the current state and to then identify areas of improvement. However, you may find that a process which is ideal in one scenario may not work in different circumstances. There is always a trade-off between parameters such as speed, flexibility, reliability, scalability, repeatability, and many more.
While there are many ways for a process to be unpacked and analysed, we have found that an effective way to review and improve business processes is through using a Process Canvas. MetaPM has consolidated the key information areas across seven categories in the attached template which can help you to understand your processes in more detail. Using a Process Canvas helps to provide a structured approach to defining process attributes clearly and assists in putting the right optimisations in place.
